Reportedly, “the former Mayor of Scarborough, Councillor Peter Jaconelli … abused children in his ice-cream parlours and his Ippon Judo Club as part of a ring involving Jimmy Savile and others….
“North Yorkshire Police were aware of this at the time and turned a blind eye to his depraved activities…”
In February 2013, one of Jaconelli’s victims formally confirmed to Scarborough Borough Council Chief Executive Officer Jim Dillon that the accusations against Jaconelli are, in his opinion, correct.

Other witnesses have posted confirmation of the same, including that he had convictions for offences of indecency.
His activities were well known by locals and I do not think for one minute that the authorities were not aware of this…

Councillor Geoff Evans of Scarborough Borough Council confirms that Jaconelli was a paedophile and had propositioned him.
Evans alleges that Jaconelli’s prosecution was prevented only by “political connections with the Conservative Party and the police”.

Councillor Tom Fox was formerly acting Chief Inspector Tom Fox commanding North Yorkshire Police in Scarborough.
He “can no longer evade the question posed by Nigel Ward:
“Would the Leader confirm or deny that, as a former ranking Police Officer in Scarborough… he was aware that elements within the Authorities were cognisant of concerns of the gravest nature in respect of the activities of Sir Jimmy Savile, yet nevertheless played a leading role in the lavish civic honours bestowed…?”

A new book claims that, in the 1980s, two senior BBC staff, working on the chidren’s TV series Doctor Who, sexually exploited teenage boys who were fans of the show.
Reportedly, producer John Nathan-Turner and his ‘partner’ production manager Gary Downie preyed on young men.
The book, JN-T: the Life and Scandalous Times of John Nathan-Turner is by former Blue Peter editor Richard Marson.
Richard Marson says he was propositioned in 1984, aged 17, after visiting the Dr Who studio.
He says he was later assaulted by Gary Downie, who died in 2006.

Marson says a wealthy fan supplied Nathan-Turner with male escorts.
Marson writes: “I don’t think he (Nathan-Turner) was predatory . . . I don’t think he forced himself on the unwilling. I was much more cautious about Gary.’
